The challenge of using communication to inspire people to think and act differently has shaped my career.

I work with people who want to make change. They have an idea or project to bring to fruition and need to engage others to do so.

I help my clients to understand the needs of their stakeholders and to develop and tell a meaningful story that is grounded in a clear strategy. I also coach and train them to do this without me.

I like to work with people who want to be remarkable at what they do and who are open to the potential for the communication process to help them better connect to themselves as well as to others.

I am one of Australia’s most experienced change and internal communication specialists.

I have been engaged as a communication strategist on at least eight restructures, three mergers, three divestments and five change programs resulting in major business transformation. My clients are Australia’s highest profile companies.

I am experienced in communication to employees, media, customer and community stakeholders. In 2008 I conducted a global best practice study in internal communications.

I have worked with private, public and not-for-profit clients in most sectors: telecommunications, government, resources, retailing, banking and financial services, IT, law and tourism/aviation.

I have been self-employed since 1999. Before that I worked for two PR consultancies and as a media relations manager for the New Zealand Inland Revenue Department. I still pay my tax on time.

I project managed BHP Billiton’s sustainability reporting in 2009.

I was a member of the Victorian Writers’ Centre Board for four years and the Epworth Hospital Human Research and Ethics Committee for two years.

I am a trained journalist but did not pursue a journalism career. My masters thesis, which explored the rise of public relations influence in the political system in New Zealand, was my springboard into the communication industry. I have written for interest in recent years, however, and my features have appeared in Melbourne’s Age and Herald Sun and Vogue Australia.
